Enriched Air Diver
Department: Department of Chinese Literature, Senior (4th Year)
International Certification Name: Enriched Air Diver
Issuing Authority: PADI
Reflection on Certification Preparation:
The Enriched Air Diver certification is a specialized qualification that allows divers to use enriched air cylinders (Nitrox) instead of standard air cylinders. I chose to obtain this certification because of its numerous benefits, such as extending the no-decompression limits, which allows divers to stay underwater longer and thereby enhances the overall diving experience. The course content covers both theory and practice, where candidates learn how to dive using enriched air, understand the regulations and specifications of enriched air cylinders, and operate oxygen analyzers.
Since obtaining my Advanced Open Water (AOW) certification, I had a strong desire to continue with the Enriched Air certification. However, the associated costs were too high for me to afford as a student, causing this plan to be indefinitely postponed.
Recently, while paying close attention to information from the Career Development Center, I discovered the International Certification Incentive Program. Upon reviewing the list, I found that the Enriched Air Diver certification was included, which strengthened my resolve to take the exam. Before registering, I specifically confirmed with the administrative staff whether students from different colleges could apply for this certification. After receiving a positive response, I immediately contacted a diving instructor to schedule the course.
Obtaining the Enriched Air Diver certification requires a significant amount of corresponding professional knowledge. I chose PADI as my issuing authority; as a renowned organization in the diving world, they provide a series of professional curriculum explanations. For me, the relevant knowledge was not easy to memorize, and I had to master the content through constant repetitive practice. For divers, safety and awareness are essential skills; neglecting any professional skill could put one in danger. Finally, through unremitting effort, I was fortunate enough to pass and obtain the Enriched Air Diver certification.
Although it is just a single certification, I believe it may indirectly help develop my career. Nowadays, a "slash career" lifestyle is commonplace. If I decide to become a diving instructor as a side career in the future, the Enriched Air Diver certification is a mandatory prerequisite. Furthermore, I believe that more preparation (certifications) will aid in career development. Having an extra certification will certainly be helpful for future work. I would like to express my gratitude again to the Career Development Center for their forward-thinking initiative in providing subsidies for relevant certifications, helping me share the burden of expensive examination fees.
