Higher Education Sprout Project: Subsidy Program for Department-led International Career Courses


      1. To enhance students' knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding international employment, this program is established to subsidize practice-oriented international career lectures that are integrated with departmental courses. The aim is to assist students in developing international career planning abilities, boosting their global competitiveness, and ensuring a smooth transition into the workplace.

      2. Eligible Applicants: Full-time faculty members of all academic departments.

      3. Scope of Funding: The program funds the invitation of external industry experts (including international experts) to conduct lectures via in-person sessions or remote video conferencing. A minimum of 4 "All-English Lecture" sessions must be organized within the 18-week semester curriculum (one session may be substituted with a corporate site visit). The content of the lectures must align with the following themes.

           (1) Preparation for International Competencies:

                a. International General Workplace Competencies: These refer to the essential abilities required across various occupational fields regardless of  the specific job type. Key competencies include communication skills, continuous learning, interpersonal interaction, teamwork, problem solving, innovation, work responsibility and discipline, IT application, cross-cultural competence and literacy, and employability development.

                b. International Professional Competencies:

                    (a.) To strengthen the professional theoretical knowledge or practical application capabilities required by the international workplace in  specific  fields.

                    (b.) To help students identify their personal competency gaps and assist them in formulating directions for learning and enhancing their  professional capabilities

           (2) International Workplace Trends (Specific Professions):

                a. To understand new and emerging forms of global professions.

                b. Challenges and responses to emerging technologies in the future international labor market.

           (3) Realities of the International Labor Market

                To understand the latest labor policies, regulations, and employment service information of major overseas employment destinations.

       4. Responsibilities of the Applicant Departments

                a. Submit the project application form and specify the lecturer's expertise in the proposal.

                b. Handle lecturer recruitment, lecture promotion, project administration, accounting, and the analysis of student feedback surveys.

       5.  The application period runs from January 1st to September 30th each year. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and results will be announced within one month of submission.

       6.  Applications must be submitted by full-time faculty members of the department, limited to one project per semester. Applicants are required to attach the necessary proposal documents and materials, submitting one electronic copy and one hard copy.

       7.  The funding limits and eligible expense items for this program are as follows:

                a. Funding Limits:

                    Basic Requirement: A minimum of 4 lecture sessions per project.

                    Funding Cap: NT$60,000 (Subject to adjustment based on course enrollment).

                    Extended Requirement: Up to 6 lecture sessions per project.

                    Funding Cap: NT$80,000.

                b. (II) Eligible Expense Items: The subsidy covers necessary activity expenses, including:

                    Lecturer Honoraria (講師鐘點費)

                    Travel Expenses (交通費)

                    Insurance Fees (平安保險費)

                    Meal Expenses (餐費)

                    Part-time Labor Wages (工讀金)

                    Material Expenses (材料費)

                    Miscellaneous Expenses (雜支)

                c. Funding Source & Budget Availability: Funding for this program is provided by the Higher Education Sprout Project. The number of approved applications is subject to the annual budget availability. Applications will close immediately once the allocated funds are exhausted.

      8.  Submission of Activity Reports:

Submit the following activity outcome materials to the Career Development Center within two weeks of event completion, and no later than November 30th. Late submissions or incomplete documentation will be taken into account during the qualification review for next year's applications.

                a. Higher Education Sprout Project Forms: The Activity Announcement Form and Activity Outcome Record Form

                b. Survey Analysis: Analysis of Participating Student Satisfaction Surveys

                c. Student Reflection: One student reflection paper (within 300 words) regarding the activity

      9. These Guidelines shall be implemented following approval by the Executive Meeting of the Office of Student Affairs and submitted to the Higher Education Sprout Project Office for reference. The same applies to any amendments.
