Overview of the Implementation of the Mentor System
I. Current Status Description:
(I) The implementation of the Mentor System at this University is conducted in accordance with the "National Chung Cheng University Mentor System Implementation Regulations."
(II) Mentors at this University are classified into: College Head Mentors, Department (Institute) Head Mentors, Class Mentors, and Career Mentors.
(III) Responsibilities of Mentors at this University:
The College Head Mentor is responsible for coordinating with Department/Institute Head Mentors and Class Mentors within the college to implement counseling work.
The Department/Institute Head Mentor is responsible for coordinating with Class Mentors within the department/institute to implement counseling work.
Class Mentors should fully understand the individual characteristics, family situations, and learning conditions of their mentees; care for their daily lives and academic performance; and assist them in solving difficulties.
Mentors should attend counseling-related courses offered by the University's Counseling Center and related units at appropriate times to enhance professional knowledge and improve their ability to counsel students.
Mentors should provide individual counseling as needed and utilize spare time or holidays to hold student-teacher forums, outings, or other group activities to enhance the student-teacher bond. Regarding bad habits, misconduct, or other special matters of mentees, mentors should request assistance from the University's Counseling Center or other relevant personnel for joint counseling and maintain contact with parents. If necessary, the matter may be submitted to the Student Affairs Meeting for discussion, with assistance from the Office of Student Affairs.
(IV) Establishment of Implementation Rules by Departments/Institutes:
Regarding the implementation of the Mentor System, each department/institute shall formulate "Department/Institute Mentor System Implementation Rules" based on its characteristics and student needs. These rules shall be implemented after approval by the Department/Institute Affairs Meeting and submitted to the Office of Student Affairs for reference.
The rules should at least include mentor responsibilities, grouping methods, interaction modes, meeting schedules, and methods for distributing mentor fees.
Each department/institute shall convene a mentor-related meeting once per semester to review the effectiveness of mentor operations.
(V) Distribution of Mentor Fees:
The fixed amount of mentor fees for each department/institute is calculated by multiplying the number of registered students in the department/institute each semester by the unit fixed amount. The use of department/institute mentor fees must comply with the University's Mentor Fee Operation Regulations.
(VI) Mentor Competency Training:
University-wide Mentor Representative Meeting: Each department/institute shall elect one mentor representative to attend the University-wide Mentor Representative Meeting. Departments/Institutes should first convene their own mentor meetings, then propose relevant issues at the University-wide meeting, where the Office of Student Affairs will request relevant administrative units to assist in resolving them. The University-wide Mentor Representative Meeting shall be convened at least once per semester.
Mentor Counseling Competency Workshops: Each department/institute may organize counseling competency training based on its needs or request support from relevant units within the University. The Counseling Center also offers various group counseling courses every semester for teachers to participate in and learn from.
(VII) Outstanding Mentor Awards:
o implement the function of mentors effectively, the selection of outstanding mentors is conducted in accordance with the University's "Outstanding Mentor Award Guidelines."
II. Feature: Diversified Mentor System
In addition to College Head Mentors, Department/Institute Head Mentors, and Class Mentors, the University plans to include Career Mentors. This diversified mentor system is the most significant feature of the University's Mentor System.
